In addition to there being more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cordesorthodontics.com\/invisalign-clear-braces.html\">treatment variety<\/a> than ever, advancements in the field now enable orthodontists to do more than just correct noticeably crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth. They can address a much wider array of oral and overall health issues, going far beyond giving their patients attractive smiles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TMJ Pain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wiggle your jaw from side to side, you\u2019ll feel your\nTMJ (temporomandibular joint) in front of your ears. This set of hinges is what\nallows your lower jaw to move, and it\u2019s essential to your ability to eat,\nspeak, laugh, and more. Often, a misalignment of the teeth and bite can cause\nan imbalance in the joint that creates pain in the jaw as well as the head and\nneck. Orthodontics can get your teeth, bite, and TMJ in line so that this\ntension, and the associated pain, go away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bruxism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBruxism\u201d is the official term for teeth grinding that\nhappens while someone is asleep. There are many potential causes, but a big one\nis a crooked bite. When the teeth don\u2019t come together properly, the body\nnaturally tries to push them together. This creates quite a bit of force\u2014enough\nto wear down or even crack enamel! Thankfully, orthodontics can help stabilize\nthe bite so that a patient can rest easy and wake up in the morning without\ndental issues they didn\u2019t have when they went to bed! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Snoring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Snoring often stems from a restricted upper airway, in that\nthe mouth is so narrow that the air causes the oral tissues to vibrate as it\nrushes past. This is what creates the \u201ciconic\u201d sound we all know as snoring.\nWith orthodontics, the airway can be gradually widened and opened, removing the\nresistance that is at the source of snoring.
